Antimicrobial effect of Jatropha tanjorensis leaves on multi antibiotic resistant bacterial isolated from poultry droppings

The widespread use of antibiotics as prophylactics and therapeutic agents has increased the risk emergence spread resistant bacteria leading to prolonged expensive treatment greater death in humans. aim this study was determine antimicrobial effect methanol extract Jatropha tanjorensis leaves on multi antibiotic isolated from poultry droppings. Multi bacterial isolates dropping already identified previous research were used. plant obtained by soxhlet extraction process, susceptibility test caried out using well agar diffusion method. percentage yield process with 22.84%. qualitative phytochemical analysis revealed presence bioactive compounds such tannins, flavonoids, cardenolide, steroids, terpenoids, anthraquinone, alkaloids, fixed oil carbohydrate. showed competitive zones inhibition Escherichia fergusonii, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, Enterobacter clocae, Lysinibacillus sphaericus Salmonella typhimerium. clocae had highest zone 17mm at a concentration 100mg/ml, 10mm 80mg/ml 8mm 50 mg/ml. maltophilia lowest 80mg/l 7mm 50mg/ml. These inhibitions show potency tajorensis bacteria. Compared synthetic or inorganic chemicals, plant-derived is natural, less toxic, typically residue free high rate metabolism. result gives credence claims medicinal nutritional properties tanjorensis.
